Correspondence & Announcements:

The Area Trustees will meet on Friday, 19 Mar 10, at 3:00 pm here at the DPL.

The spring meeting of the New Hampshire Library Trustee Association (NHLTA) will be coming up in May.

     B. Goodwin received a letter from John Harris regarding the use of some of the pictures from the Henry Allison collection for a book about architecture.

Director’s Report:

     E. McIntyre reported that the library’s meeting room has seen an exceptional amount of use with meetings and programs.  Dublin Recreation Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the Saturday a week before Easter to accommodate people who may be traveling.  Local author, Walt Schnabel will be in discussing his new book this month.  Stanley Security was kept busy with all the wind and snow we had affecting the electricity.  The constant on/off caused a short in the fuse box for the water pump.  Brian Barden and Art Susmann had it up and running within 2 hours of being called.  The library has a pass for townspeople to go to the Mariposa Museum.  Staff is busy getting ready for the summer programs along with their regular duties.  The Friends of the DPL have a facebook page.  There was some discussion about Kindles.  Area libraries are carrying them for patrons.

Financial Report:

The amended financial report for December was presented now that all of the interest has been tallied.  The auditors were here last week and B. Sovik reported no problems.  The Revenue/Expense chart is not formal until one is approved by the townspeople at Town Meeting on Saturday.

Other Reports:

The last Area Trustees meeting had discussions of budgets, Kindles, news articles, additions and more.  The idea of having evening meetings was addressed with response being divided so far.  Other libraries throughout the state are starting to have their own area trustees meetings.

Old Business:

     B. Walker reported the DPL Annual Report is still in the gathering stage.

     J. Holmes reported that the Policy Committee met and went through each policy one by one.  They have been updated and will be printed soon.  A. Knight handed out updated copies of the American Library Association’s Freedom to Read and Freedom to View statements along with their Code of Ethics.

New Business:

Gail Bartlett was elected for trustee as a write-in candidate and B. Walker was re-elected.

Having no further business, M. Smith moved to adjourn at 7:55 pm.  J. Holmes seconded.  So moved.

Next meeting is 14 Apr 10 at 7:00 pm.

Respectfully submitted:

B. Walker
