Correspondence & Announcements:
Gail Bartlett was welcomed to the Board of Trustees.
The Area Trustees will meet on Thursday, 22 Apr 10, at 7:00 pm at the Marlborough library.
The spring meeting of the New Hampshire Library Trustee Association (NHLTA) will be held 3 May 10 at the Portsmouth Sheraton Harborside Hotel. There is still time to register.
B. Goodwin wrote the Selectmen regarding the Board’s stance on holiday pay for part-time employees.
Director’s Report:
E. McIntyre reported that the Easter Egg Hunt put on by the Recreation Department was a success. They do a great job and it gets better every year. March was a busy month at the library with only three days without a program scheduled and use by families was up. With an increase in use, E. McIntyre noted that the carpets should be thoroughly cleaned more than once a year. The Board will consider the purchase of one instead of continuing to hire someone and vote at the next meeting.
Financial Report:
An overview of named funds, investments and savings, revenue and expenditures, and transactions was given by B. Sovik. The budget was approved by the Town at the March meeting and all forms have been updated.
Other Reports:
The Friends have a program of Wacky Songs coming up in May and are also thinking of starting another book discussion series.
The plaque for the Dogwood Memorial will go back outside for the season. Also, there are new planters at the entrance which should last longer than the last ones.
B. Goodwin reported that the Area Trustees meeting held at the DPL was once again very informative. It is amazing how each town is different and the sharing of experiences and knowledge proves to be helpful to all.
Old Business:
B. Walker reported the DPL Annual Report should be delivered to the library on 15 Apr 10.
There was some discussion on the article for the Ledger Transcript. H. James has not been contacted yet.
New Business:
B. Goodwin noted there were many bicycles at the library and nowhere to keep them. He did some investigating and has come up with several ideas to consider.
Having no further business, B. Sovik moved to adjourn at 8:02 pm. A. Knight seconded. So moved.
Next meeting is 12 May 10 at 7:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted:
B. Walker
