Open Space Planning Committee
Minutes – November 11, 2009
Meeting at Town Hall convened at 8:30 a.m. in the upper level. Present: Diane Schott, Chairman. Ed Germain, Betsey Harris, Sue Yarger, John Morris
Absent: Jack Lewis, Bruce Simpson, Henry James, Story Wright
The meeting was called to order at 8:35 AM
Regarding budget: Agreement was reached on Jack’s note regarding the budget as DCC holds the budget.
Diane will sign the contract agreement for the intern as there were no issues with the terms. We do not think that Rick, the intern, has any time constraints to start the work.
We do not have budget to support a full-time person to manage the database. We’ll have the current database amended and will have printed copies posted.
Diane will provide OSPC information to the Dublin Board of Selectmen and the Dublin Planning board to support our efforts. Liz Ober might be a resource and Diane will reach out to her.
What do we consider cultural resources. Has history? Trails? Yankee field? Rufus Frost meadow. Muster field for civil war. Historical and currently important and potential source of agriculture land. Gasoline Engine field? Cellar holes?
It was determined that cultural does not equal historical.
Water is one of the most important resources in Dublin. Better links need to be created between the various planning boards in Dublin. Various boards have the same issues: the Planning Board, Zoning Board and Conservation Commission all have water as an issue but none of the boards communicate with the other. Sue agreed to attempt to make sure that people from each group are on the other groups.
What are the native sites in Dublin that would be of value to OSPC? John Harris knows many as does Sterling Abrams. Diane will invite Sterling to a future meeting to discuss.
The meeting adjourned at 9:25
Respectfully submitted, Sue Yarger
