Meeting date:

Dublin Recycling Committee

Minutes of the meeting July 8, 2021, 6 p.m.

In attendance at Town Hall, in person and via FaceTime: Leslie Whone, Jane Holmes, Sheila Morse, Joe Carignan, Meredith Martin, Tom Kennedy, Geoff Pinney. Leslie served as moderator of the meeting.

Construction of the recycling building. Tom reported that at his meeting with the Select Board on July 6th, the Board announced the appointment of Andy Hungerford, Director of Building and Grounds at the Dublin School, to be the coordinator of the project. Tom had met with Andy on Thursday morning. He said that Andy is reviewing all aspects of the project, including steel vs. wood construction and two possible sites for the building. After he completes his review, bids will go out again.

Geoff Pinney, a former member of the Recycling Committee, attended Tuesday’s meeting of the Select Board and came to this meeting to say that there is a site plan for the Recycling Center, which he wrote, on file at the Town Office. Though it was done a number of years ago, it could be useful for this project. He pointed to his expertise in this field. Tom and the Committee heard his concerns and ideas and suggested that he speak to Andy Hungerford.

There was some discussion about concrete needs and prices. Joe will look into options for concrete.

Geoff said that he believes that because the funds for this project are coming out of the Recycling Reserve fund, the funds do not have to be spent by the end of 2021. The Committee will seek clarification on this.

Swap Shop. Leslie reported that the Swap Shop has been open for two weeks. She is looking for a few more volunteers to be there on Saturdays.

Leslie adjourned the meeting at 7 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Meredith Martin
